In the summer of 2019, I took an internship at SLIMDENTAL through the JFEW Scholarship Program, which was a very valuable part of my journey. It gave me the opportunity to work in a clinical setting and gain hands-on professional experience as a dental hygienist. This expanded my knowledge base and I developed a better understanding of how to work as a team of oral care providers in order to maximize oral health care outcomes. I was also able to improve one-on-one patient oral health instruction in a patient-provider setting, which was very rewarding. This summer internship was an incredible experience that tested my abilities as a professional and increased my confidence and passion to become the best dental hygienist I can be.
