Final Project – Part 2, March of the Penguins Color Palette Roughs

For my final. I chose to illustrate a documentary film, March of the Penguins, released 17 years ago in 2005. This documentary takes place in Antarctica, one of the earth’s harshest places due to ice-covered landmass, snowstorms, and a -20 degree Fahrenheit. This shows what an emperor penguin’s life is to find their mate start a new happy family with their newborn chick, and find food for their chick. At the same time, trying to survive harsh weather, temperatures, predators from the sea, and starvation until their mate returns.

For color studies, my first color draft would include a three limited color pallette from gray as the sky referred from the official poster, white and dark blue. while the second draft, i explore the shades of Cerulean and sky blue for the sky and the ocean.
