    I had a very similar question mine was y” + 6y’ + 45y = 0

    I did the characteristics equation;

    my fundamental roots came out to be -3 +or- 6i which brings us to case 3

    where we have the real part and and imaginary.

    Y1 = e^-3x Cos(6x) Y2 = e^-3x sin(6x)

    My general solution came out to be;

    y = e^-3x Cos(6x) + e^-3x sin(6x)
