Belgian Fries with Roasted Eggplant Mayo, jalapeno peppers and onions

Located in the East Village, is a dark “hole in the wall”  Pommes Frites. Pommes Frites does not offer the traditional burger and fries, but specializes in the making of thickly cut Belgian french fries (which is the only item on the menu). What makes this place unique from all the other Belgian fries eateries out there, is the availability of about 20-30 different dipping sauces! The sauces range from Roasted Eggplant Mayo to Vietnamese Pineapple Mayo and Sweet Mango Chutney Mayo. Pommes Frites produces their french fries from freshly grown potatoes, and they go through over 1,000 pounds of potatoes on a busy day!

Just 4.50 can get you a small order that will guarantee to fill you up. Or if you’re planning to share with a friend, you can order the large for $6.50. Because of it’s popularity, this place is often featured on cheap-eatery segments of travel food shows such as the Food Network and the Travel Channel.
