    In chapter 3 I read depending on if the business is a large business or a smaller business management structures differ. The general manager has a large amount of responsibilities, but in larger hotels it’s impersonal. The general manager might only meet and greet a few VIPs oppose to smaller business where is the general manager becomes more aquatinted with the guest. The executive committee is made up with directors from human resources, food and beverage, rooms division, marketing and sales, engineering , and accounting. The rooms division director is held responsible for the effective and efficient leadership and operations of all the rooms division departments. The front office manager main duty is to make sure the guest service is meeting guest needs. The front office main functions are to sell rooms. maintain balanced accounts, to offer services such as handling mail, faxes,messages, and local and hotel information. The night auditor job is to balance the guest accounts receivable. Revenue Management is used to maximize room revenue at the hotel and it is based on the economics of supply and demand, which means that prices rise when demand is strong and drop when demand is weak . Hotels use REV PAR to see how they are doing compared to their competitive set of hotels.

  2. I’ve learned that the General Manager has a number of responsibilities, they keep guests and employees happy and make sure that the hotel makes the most amount of money possible. The best GM employs the right people to make sure they whatever it takes legally to ensure the guests are satisfied.
    The executive committee consists of different directors; human resources, food and beverage, rooms division, marketing and sales, engineering, and accounting. They are a group of managers that makes sure the hotel is running smoothly. They discus occupancy, guest and employee satisfaction, the hotel’s forecast and other areas.
    Some trends in hotels today includes, making hotels greener, increasing the use of technology and developing in room technology.
