Cross Training (verb) teaching employees to complete various tasks.

Cobe, P. (2018). Cross-Training to Ease the Labor Crunch. Restaurant Business, 117(11), 14.

A quote from the article: Every position at Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe requires multiple skill sets, says Jeff Powell, CEO of the 23-unit casual concept. “We’ve always done
cross-training, but there’s a greater sense of urgency now,” he says. In the kitchen, the prep people all have a role on the line and the dishwasher has a small prep list.

My thoughts: When I am a manager I will work to develop or strengthen my companies cross training program because I learned it is good for the workplace to have more people able to do more tasks. I also think it will help people grow in their career, so it will be good for the employee as well.
