Welcome to my e-portfolio! My name is Hannah Lin. Here, I wish to showcase my abilities, experiences, and contributions to my community. Pursuing dental hygiene was not always a goal of mine. At first, it was because a career in the medical field seemed practical and served a way to use employment to contribute to the community. However, as I progressed through the Dental Hygiene program at City Tech, I discovered a passion for preventative services and patient education. What I learned and applied in my clinical experience allowed me to reflect on my upbringing and my community. As a child of immigrant parents, I realized there was a lack of emphasis on oral hygiene among immigrant families. Early childhood caries were prevalent amongst family and friends, including myself. This made me realize that rather than restoring what was damaged, it is better to prevent damage. A great way to do so is by educating patients to take care of their oral health and helping them to do so through a career in dental hygiene! I am proud of the field I chose!
