I liked computer work and striking visuals.

Hey everyone, I’m Eugene! I’m majoring in Communication Design with a focus on Graphic Design. I chose this path because I really believe design is one of the most powerful ways to connect people, especially across different cultures and languages. Growing up bilingual and later moving to New York, I became very aware of how visuals can bridge gaps in understanding. That experience made me want to pursue a field where creativity and communication come together.
My favorite classes so far have been Intro to Video and Senior Project. In Intro to Video, I had a blast working with classmates to create short films; it was such a good mix of teamwork, creativity, and storytelling. For Senior Project, I developed a brand for organic cat food, which was especially fun because it combined so many things I enjoy—packaging design, branding, and motion graphics. Seeing how the project came together as a full brand system was really rewarding.
I’d say my strengths are in branding, storytelling, and motion graphics. I enjoy experimenting with different visual styles and refining details until the message feels clear and effective. At the same time, I’d like to get better at simplifying complex information so it’s easy for audiences to understand. That’s also why I’m excited to take Information Design this semester.
Outside of school, I’m into reading about AI and design, but I also follow the economy, stocks, and world news because I find it fascinating how everything is connected. I enjoy listening to hip-hop and lo-fi music, baking cookies when I can, and honestly, nothing makes me happier than relaxing and rolling around with my cats.
I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone this semester.
