Inspired by children’s book illustrations and commercial art at a very young age, Gail would make Jackson 5 partridges. Making collage styled pages of Michael Jackson and his brothers she was already building up her skills at an elementary age. She went to Art School at SVA where she later would graduate from and move to Boston to work on her masters. She returned to NYC for a position at the Rolling Stone.

She started working for the Rolling stone in 1987 up until 2002 starting as an associate and making her way up to Senior Art Director. She contributed to much of the eclectic typographic style of the magazine and never was trapped into one specific kind of style. Her work had no limits.

She later leaves the Rolling Stone and joins SpotCo, a well known Ad Agency in NYC where she became Creative Director of Design. Her work has been shown on and off Broadways shows, bus stops, subway stations and billboards.

Gail Anderson is a co-author and also a recipient the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Medal from the AIGA, has lectured about design, and continues to educate at the School of Visual Arts, NYC.
