Assignment 2: Defining Topic

<<back to Weekly Agenda

Inspiration

The song or poem you have selected should become the catalyst for your mini-pop up exhibit, to be displayed in a specified location on campus. Over the course of the next few weeks we will be defining the mission of your exhibit.

Make sure to review these two project details before proceeding:

Please respond to the following prompts:

  1. Name of the Song or Poem you have selected
  2. Artists Name, Year of publication
  3. Compose a one paragraph statement (three to four sentences) describing what the piece means to you. The statement should be very focused – what is your ‘take-away’ from your peice?
    • What is it about?
    • What is the mood of the piece?
    • How does it make you feel?
  4. With your target audience being the College community why did you choose this creative peice? How do you feel the peice is relevant to the College community?
  5. What current issue of our time do you feel the creative work encompasses? It can be anything light or heavy: i.e. Love, Peace, War, Hunger, Knowledge, Laughter, Friendship, Fashion, etc.
  6. Based on your answer for #5 can you list (at least 5) facts about the current state of that issue?
  7. Based on your answer for #5 can you list (at least 5) things you want to communicate to your audience relating to the subjectmatter of your song?
  8. Begin to develop a list of words associated with you song. At least 20 words. Think visually, words that might inspire pictograms and ideograms.
