My name is Danya Abuzahrieh. I never met anyone with the same name as me I’ve always felt as if it was like a unique name. Everywhere I go people say my name differently, at home, in school, and also at my workplace. My name has a meaning to it, in the Quran its meaning is ” fruits near you in heaven”. Ive always found it very beautiful. I would tell my mom maybe that’s why I love fruits so much. Growing up I was always embarrassed to say my name. I felt as if no one had it people would start to think that it’s weird. However now I am more than comfortable sharing my name. Names go back generations, and are also culturally. whenever any of my family members are born their parents always name them an Arab name. Most muslims give their kids names from the Quran which is our book of god. I once met a Russian lady who told me my name was commonly used in Russia, I was very shocked because it was the first time I have heard that before. I did my own research and discovered my name is quite popular in Russia. The beauty of names is that everyone is unique because of their name.
