My name is Nicholas. There really is no deeper meaning to my name than what it sounds like. I was named after my father and it’s a common name in my family. The way people call me Nicholas is most professional to me, unlike some nicknames that were given to me by my friends or family. I didn’t like my last name Jadoonanan when I was in middle school, because a lot of people would say it wrong after I corrected them. I began to admire the name because it was different than most Indian last names that end in Singh. I started to understand how much my last name meant to me when I started to talk about it with my family and motivates me whenever I ever feel the need to procrastinate or laze around. In my friend group, my last name adds to the diversity between the 4 of us. It shows the meaning to my different background compared to theirs. The meaning of my names doesn’t really matter to me, although it is cool to think that my first name, “Nicholas” means victory of the people. My last name has more meaning than my first and middle names, which were given to me after someone else, which also makes me understand more about my last name.
