Portfolio Description

I enrolled at Brooklyn college in 2003 as a Fine Arts major, and after finishing up my second year, I decided to take a break from school and work full-time. I reached this decision because I found myself uncertain about whether or not I could find the synergy between my passion of art and the ability to be financially stable. I started working in small cafes and coffee shops around the city – taking any dishwasher job available, to a fry cook, to a grill cook, to line cook, to an expeditor, and eventually, a cafe manager. I became comfortable with my success which stopped me from finishing up my college education and pursuing what I loved. But a salary which granted me stability couldn’t buy my happiness. It took me several years to realize that I lost track of all my goals and was not driving myself to any higher ambitions. I want to face challenges. I want to push myself. I want to be inspired, yet inspire people, too. I want to finally find that perfect harmony where I can combine my affection for the art of culinary and work in an environment where my skills are utilized. My goal is to graduate in three years and use my education, combined with my experience, and start my own business.
