In chapter  10 “ The most beautiful language is French”  she focuses on the aesthetic judgments of languages . The idea that a language itself can be beautiful or ugly. A factor that can add to this theory would be dialect. The idea of whether a speech is beautiful or ugly are bound to our ideas about the person who speaks it.  The sounds of a language as well determine whether a language is beautiful or not. Velar , pharyngeal , and uvular fricatives are inherently ugly . German is perceived as ugly because of its harshness and guttural. The question at hand can be a bit of a contradiction because of personal opinion & taste. The conclusion to this question would be that it is hopeless to get everyone to like all languages equally based on different preferences and taste.  What we have to keep in mind is that these beliefs are influenced by social factors and not just linguistic ones. I personally feel as though some languages do sound better then others and after reading this i would understand why. In my opinion some of the harsher speaking languages dont sound as nice as the soft spoken ones. Also what ive noticed as well and what she also described is how someone speaks and the way they speak. For example someone who is just learning spanish and speaking it to someone might not sound as nice as a fluent spanish speaker.
