1a) Define “metaphor” or “simile,” which are slightly different. Choose
one.
A simile is a figure of speech comparing two unlike things that is often introduced by like or as.
1b) Provide an example:
You were as brave as a lion.
2a) Define “alliteration”
Alliteration is the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.
2b) Provide an example:
“Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.”
3a) Define “personification”
Personification is the attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form.
3b) Provide an example:
My alarm yelled at me this morning.
4a) Define parallelism or parallel wording in writing
Parallelism is also known as parallel structure, is when phrases in a sentence have similar or the same grammatical structure.
4b) Provide an example
