The morning to downtown Brooklyn, I took the train as usual, going through the humid station and large groups of people. The ride was as expected, packed to the brim during the summer time, but when I stepped out the station and walked to the nearby park, the day felt very different. I noticed a few park volunteers in the hot sun, planting some new flowers along the walking path. Some volunteers digging new holes and others carefully and cautiously patting the soil around the base of each new flower that was added to the collection. The park felt like remodeled, being brought back to life just as the summer was making its way here. This was something that energized the beginning of my day.
