ARCH1121 A History of Architectural Technology, FA2017

My name is Dovi Gratias Akouete, but I prefer to be called Gratias. I was born on February 14, 1998, and I’m currently 19. As a child growing up I used to attend a lot of my parents art expositions. Which is all I can honestly remember, aside from the fact that my mom was a vender and my dad worked in the Mali Embassy. Looking back my family was partially build on art, and being surround by constantly that as a child made my interest for it but in many different categories, One of them being Architecture. In my senior year of high school I wasn’t exactly sure on what career to pursuit. One day I sat down and talked to my eldest brother, he asked me what I really wanted to do with my life. I told him I wasn’t sure, he told me to write a list of things I like and my talents. We did some research together and finally ended up with architecture. In the summer of my senior year I went to an open house at City College about Architecture, although I didn’t understand or have any previous knowledge about Architecture I loved it. The challenges that I face is being able to manage my time right and getting assignments turned in on their due date. The reason for this is being able to focus and have some materials nearby in school instead of being constantly distracted at home and being interrupted. I hope to gain as much knowledge one can obtain from this class. I’m really fascinated with architecture and learning about its ancient history up to the modern days is something that I’m really looking forward to in the class.
