Course Description

Building Technology is the synthesis of design, materials, assemblies, performance, and documentation. This sequence of courses touches all of these topics and explores their relationships.

Building Technology I starts with an introduction to architectural drawing and building tectonics with an focus on masonry and wood construction. Hand drawing techniques foster the development of understanding of scale, line weight, and drawing coordination.

Case study structures in Brooklyn offer first hand experiences as a context for each assignment.

This site contains the materials that are the basis for each section of the course, although some sections may have slight variations in their sequence or emphasis.
