    To all NYCCT students,

For better or worse, social media is a part of all of our lives. A major app getting a lot of traffic around campus is known as YikYak. A variation of Twitter where users in the local area can post short messages to a wide open forum and never have their identities recognized. The best part about it is that its content is uncensored. The worse part about it is also the fact that content is uncensored.

It is the responsibility of only yourselves that you monitor your language online. This goes beyond any special four-letter words. Do your best to refrain from posting any sexist, racist or generally intolerant views on YikYak; regardless if they’re meant to be jokes or otherwise.

There is no rule that states everyone on the internet is an unbearable cretin.

    Sincerely,

    Russel Hotzler
    City Tech President

    Attention all students,

This is a post on behalf of City Tech President. The discussion of this letter is to inform you on a social media app called Yik Yak. If you do not know what Yik Yak is then listen up. It is a proximity social media app where students will be able to talk to one another anonymously. By anonymous, I mean everything posted will have no author. But do not get me wrong, the use of this app on campus is to discuss school matters or to connect with other students, not to freely say everything on your mind. This clearly mean try your best not to use profanity and not to tarnish other students post. There is a regulation for this app. Even though you will be anonymous, you will still have an account in which you can be traced by if you decide to post things that should not be posted. So download the app and get connected with other students.

    Best Regards,
    Joseph Tran

    Good Afternoon Mr. President,

As you know already there is a new social media out there for college students, this application will keep students and college community in constant communication. I think this app will have advantages and disadvantages. For example, with this app it will be easy to students to bring out issues in the campus and learning system. the disadvantage would be students can abuse this opportunity and use it for not good incantations.

    Attn: NYCCT Students

There is an app called Yik Yak that is initially made for college students to communicate anonymously. You are able to post what’s on your mind and other people that is 1.5 miles away are able to like, dislike and comment on your post. If you are familiar or willing to use this app, please be considerate and respectful to others. Be mindful to others and think about what you would say before posting your thoughts. However, the developers have tried their best on removing any inappropriate things that have been said on the yak. When your Yak is down-voted more than 5 times and been reported consecutively, you will be suspended. Overall, Yik Yak is made for mature users to express their thoughts.

    Thank you!
