Creative Writing Exercise
Choose a photograph from the lecture (See images under ‘Civil War Photographs’
Write the letter that would have accompanied the photograph you have chosen.
The letter can be from the sitter, receiver, or another character from within the social circle of the photograph. The letter can be a private diary entry, or a public letter in a newspaper.
Be as creative as possible. But try and be historically accurate. State who the text is by, and include the image.
200 – 300 words
