Book Covers

Dirk Rowntree

Fall 2022

In this project, I was giving ten book titles to choose from those ten titles, I needed to create a portfolio book cover. I chose “Visual Thought” and “The Huge Look” because those two statements spoke to me instantly. I immediately thought about color and how I would incorporate it into this piece. I also did my fair share of research to gain some inspiration from Sean Wotherspoon, a creative designer based in Los Angeles. They always say to “Never Judge a Book By Its Cover” but if you like that cover, then it’s okay to judge.

Walt Disney Design Evolution

Digital Media Foundations

Professor Devir Shriky

Spring 2023

The goal of this writing project was to show the evolution of a famous logo. I chose the infamous Disney logo that also features the Disney Channel Logo. The Walt Disney brand has been known since its launch back in 1923. It has touched the hearts of many young and old people and has revolutionized many cultures worldwide. This Disney brand logo was something as little as Walt Disney’s handwritten signature. The neatly cursive print with the elegant touch within his two initials (W and D) is what made it even more iconic. This first featured film this logo was seen in was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The logo took off from there and has been apart of our lives ever since.

Reflection

My model for this photography piece is my good friend Michelle Martinez. Her nature gestures and emotion helped make this project a success as it complimented the black and white space within the set. Getting these type of raw shots is one in a million and that’s why I think it’ll be hard to replicate.

Video Project: My Inspirations

Insight and Reflection

For this final project, our task was to put together a one minute video about our creative minds and outstanding work. Throughout this entire video project, I wanted to speak to my audience about the people who have inspired me the most throughout my life and throughout my college journey. This is an intimate and fun video that takes the viewer into my personal life with my family. You definitely will see a lot of smiles and moments to celebrate. I hope you enjoy my visual presentation and I hope you’re able to smile and celebrate with me.

Fashion | Galleries

My love for art:

Art is apart of our daily routine from the second that we get out of bed. Going out to gallery openings and art exhibitions are ways that I continue to appreciate art and connect with other people who enjoy that same passion. Living in New York City gives us a great advantage to get out and enjoy those vibrant pieces way more than most cities in the globe. Dressing up in unique clothes is another thing that motivates me to get out and explore the cities hidden wonders.

My fashion choices:

Fashion has been instilled within me since I was a young boy. I would say I have to thank my parents for my unique fashion choices and using me as their model. However, they’ve created a monster because I can’t stop. I always felt like fashion is a way of self expression. The different color palettes and patterns that you can use to make a unique outfit is honestly was keeps me motivated to dress up and create more.

Lucid Air Ad Campaign

Communication Design 2300

Spring 2023

Insight and Concept:

We’ve seen our world transition from gas powered vehicles to electrical vehicles over these last few years. Electric car companies such as Tesla, Lucid Motors, and Rivian. In this campaign, the goal was to advertise a 2023 hybrid vehicle that is affordable, is still gas powered, and can take you on a cross country trip. The world wont be ready to give up on gas powered vehicles just yet, but this would be the first steps in that process.
