Group 3 – draft

Business letter and email make up 60% of the grade. All parts should be evaluated on the following criteria.

FORMAT:

Conventions of platform
– proper formatting
– taking advantage of platform’s strengths

All these would somewhat differ from platform to platform
—–

Poor

Ex: Business letter’s heading and footer sections are mixed up. The tone is clearly informal. The person is not addressed properly. No paragraph structure. Sentence structure is confusing. The letter is too lengthy. No contact information included.

Satisfactory

Ex: Twitts are clear and direct. No use of #tags, @user

Good

Ex: The email is brief and direct. Relevant subject. Proper greeting. Contact information included.

CONTENT:
Valid criticism backed by evidence from both texts (quotes). Same argument is made across all platforms.
—–

Poor

Business letter’s purpose is not clear. Unfounded criticism (no evidence provided) of “Tech 101”. “Too big to know” is mentioned but the author’s points are not contrasted to “Tech 101″‘s or not mentioned at all. No specific arguments are made. The content is overall vague and confusing. Poor use of language.

Satisfactory

The overall argument is made but some points are either undeveloped or not supported by clear evidence from the texts. Some quotes are irrelevant to the argument.

Good

Well structured argument. Effective use of quotes. Clear language. The purpose is clear. Overall well-organized and convincing.
