Presentation DECK (Final Project) Specs.

Putting all together

For a final project we will create a presentation deck that will include all corrected designs of your book / We will present to class. Please note that all the elements are essentially designed already. No more additional independent assignments will be given.

Presentations are due CLASS 14:

It MUST include:

  • Book interior: Showcase :Title Page, Chapter opener and one spread only.
    • No need to correct style sheets.
If necessary correct title page, spreads (running head and folios). Make sure type is aligned to the baseline grid when showing spreads.
    • FOR DRACULA only. REMOVE all underscores on journal entries.
  • Hardcover solo solution (the one with foil stamp or embossed)
    • Mainly correct alignment, hierarchy, missing authors. See notes returned
  • Dust jacket (and paperback cover)
    • Correct as necessary
    • NOTE Paper Back
    • The cover of your dust jacket is the same as your paperback
      and
The dust jacket design without the flaps is basically your paperback design. You will just have to add some of the credits from flap into back cover.

HERE is the text that must be included

You can create the presentation deck with your preferred application (InDesign, Illustrator, Figma, others)

The look of your presentation is up to you. HOWEVER, this is a type class. We covered many aspects of what advanced typography is. The presentation will be graded not only on the corrected components required, but its aesthetic and typographical correctness.

Create any missing assets.

There are multiple ways in which to create jpegs of particular pages (depending on applications)

For Assignment 1: inside pages

How to create JPEGS from spreads in INDESIGN

These are my results. I can use these jpegs as they are or use them in templates, mockups , etc. I can use them as simple jpegs without mocking them up.

NOTE You can also do the same process to individual pages if necessary.

For Assignment 2: Hardcover: COVER and Spine/ Emboss, foil)

We already created assets for our hardcover version
(Cover, Spine, Endpaper, end bands). Remember that I shared with you Illustrator files for changing paper color, then we did technique, etc.

For Assignment 3: Dust jacket

Simply export your entire artboard as a JPEG

For a paperback version. Create a 13.75 x 9.25 file (6.25 + 6.25 +1.25). Copy your dust jacket without the flaps and paste. Do bring any necessary credits from flaps into the back. Adjust copy if necessary.

Optional elements

You can create additional assets the same way that you did previous assignment

DUE next Week

Final version of DUST jacket. This will be graded
