I don’t really have any questions about taking an online writing class, as of now my main concern or worry is learning how to navigate this new website. A positive aspect of online learning as a whole for me is that I have more time, and I can move at my own pace and manage my work schedule better now. My time management has also been improved greatly because of online classes and I manage my time better than I ever have before. A tip I can share is that it is important to get more familiar with your technology and learning about all it can do.

Abbigail Cleary, I share the same concern. It takes a lot of time for me to figure out what I am doing. They provide the link and after that you have to figure out every thing on your own. so by the time you are finish you already forget the first step. But I guest we have to work with it for now until we get this pandemic under control.

Some concerns that I have about taking an online writing class is that I fear that there may not be many available times when it comes to tutoring such as assisting or reviewing each student’s work, especially when it is a one-on-one session since appointments need to be made. In other words, the time needed per student isn’t the same and can’t be calculated correctly, therefore one-on-one session may take up several days till each student can get a turn to get an advice or feedback about their writing. Some positive aspects about online learning that I experienced is that I can go over recorded sessions how many times I want, to either refresh my memory or to go over parts of the lesson that I may not understand. By being able to do this, I can thoroughly understand each topic in my own pace. A useful tip from my own online experience that I think could be helpful to students is that creating study groups with other students is beneficial because they can lend a helping hand to others through explaining topics or certain parts of the lesson that they don’t understand and others could do the same.

This is my second semester doing online learning. One thing that has always been a concern or struggle to learning online is finding the motivation to complete assigned work. Last semester, I resorted to procrastination as I was still trying to navigate online learning and manage time efficiently. In addition, another concern that I have is not being able to understand the material since it is hard for me to learn online. I personally enjoy being in a classroom setting where I get to interact with other individuals and that is the place where I thrive the most. A tip that I would like to give other students is take breaks as needed.

Overall I don’t really have concerns with an online writing class and especially since I used this site for my last semester’s English course I have familiarized myself with this site so I understand a majority of It. However, one positive aspect of online learning would be that I know how to manage my time wisely as well as having an equal amount of time to do my work and having spare time for work and talking with family and friends. One tip from this whole online experience would be to know that you are not alone and you have people surrounding that are willing to help you so It’s okay If you just need a moment to relax and de-stress yourself!

As of now, I don’t have any concerns about taking an online writing class because I already got acquainted with the routine from last semester when I had to take English 101. For this course, I foresee myself engaging in more discussions during class time and really having a conversation with my peers and professor. I look forward to working in breakout groups so that I can collaborate and share my thoughts with a small group of people. My advice for my fellow classmates is to don’t wait for the last minute to get your assignments in. It’s better to get things done earlier so that you have time to do other things.

I am bit concerned about the online writing class. I am not a strong writer and I’m going to need a lot of practice and revising. Will there be a lot of writing where we will not have a lot of time to revise our work? What’s going to be the focus in the writing course? Is there going to be a lot of group work or are we going to work by ourselves often? What exactly is different from the first writing course? These are just a few questions I have about the course. Even though I have a lot of worries, I think there is a benefit about online class, the time it takes to get to school can be used to study. Lastly, two tips to always keep in mind is to keep everything planned, documented, and organized also to ask for help from classmates and teachers if you need, or you’ll fall behind.

“Online learning”: online learning has been a unique experience at this moment due to the pandemic. It has been something we weren’t used to but had to get out of our comfort zones to do so. Some worries I still have about online learning is that we aren’t receiving the actual experience we would be having or the amount of extra help some may need in person. But by my experience of last semester I have noticed that the professors work very hard and manage and they do so much for us. I have enjoyed my past experience. It has been very helpful in so many ways. It shows us that even though we aren’t on campus we still can manage a lot online. I advise that professors continue doing a great job. As well as students should continue working very hard to accomplish what they are majoring in.

I don’t have any questions about taking an online writing class because I have taken one before and it was quite enjoyable. I had a lot of creative freedom in that course, though. Which is what I’m worried about in online writing courses. I love having freedom to write whatever I want. Some tips I have for other students is keeping in touch with other students and being active in group chats helps a lot because you’re never clueless.

I feel like I’m used to online learning and will continue to try my best. This is my second time taking an online writing class and luckily it’s on the same site where I have familiarization with how things work and how I will be able to manage it. Of course, I am still worried about not getting that peer help where we can help each other if needed. Positive aspects of an online writing class is that you have more than enough time to edit your pieces and you are able to meet the professor for help. Throughout the semester, a big advice to all students is to write a TO-DO list, literally anywhere, maybe on your notes in your phone or in a planner, it will help you more than harm you. Keeping yourself organized and to check your Openlab/Blackboard everyday is essential. Finally, make sure to take breaks and rest, it can negatively affect your work ethic if you don’t have your rest and meals.

Hello Professor Garcia and fellow students, my name is Billie Adams-Cush. It’s so unfortunate that with this Covid19 pandemic we are unable to meet and greet and experience the normal school life atmosphere. Even though schooling have been taken to another level one that was never foreseen, children seem to be excelling and are having better grades.
This is my second semester fully online and also for my son who is in high school. But I am amazed to see that his grades have improve and he has made the High Honor roll.
This new form of teaching might not work for everyone and some children may not grasp everything that is being taught, but it seems to be having many positive results.
I am not complaining but they are many children that are suffering because they don’t have the equipment necessary for an online environment which are leading to mental health issues and this is a problem that needs to be address more sooner than later.
In my opinion we need to get the little ones back to school the colleges could remain close and if there are people who need to be back at college, they may just open but with limited capacity.
But for now, stay safe and follow the necessary safety guideline.

    Thank you
    Billie

As far as taking an online course, I don’t really have any questions. This would be my second semester taking an online course, so i pretty much have the hang of things. I’ve learned how to navigate things through online learning, so that was pretty helpful. A positive aspect would be the time that I have, I have lots of time to do my work and get any work that I have out of the way. I operate on my schedule which leaves me to provide better work. A tip that I have for a better online experience would be time management! That is very important, although we all work on our own schedules, you wouldn’t want to wait until the very last minute to do any work you have, especially if it’s a lot.

As of right now I do not have any questions, everything is straight forward. I’m kinda confused with using this whole new site, hopefully it gets better and I get familiar with it in the future. As an online writing class I feel like I have the time I need, I can work at my own pace to come out with a really good finished writing piece. What I really like about online learning is that when one is confused about a topic or something in the class, he or she can set up an online zoom meeting with the professor 1 on 1 and the professor will help the student out. I hope this class system is not hard on this new site and hopefully we will all end the semester with the grade we want.

I do not think I have any questions nor concerns about this class. I hope that the formatting of this course is pretty straightforward and easy to work with. I already have one class with a Professor incorporating too many unnecessary factors into their course. It’s more of a blogging class than what is actually supposed to be, and it’s way off. Dealing with online learning, one thing you have to do is be straight with your professor. We are all going through different things and there should be an understanding when it comes to that. With that being said, we all still need to pull our weight in these classes to the best of our abilities.

I don’t have any major concerns or questions with taking an online writing class. Last semester, I took the English 1101 course online, fully asynchronous. What may worry me a little bit is getting familiar with the OpenLab website. I think a positive aspect of online learning is that you have more freedom to work at your own pace because you can stay at home which frees up a lot of time. I think that my work has improved because I have more time to go over and do it to the best of my ability. A tip that I can share from my online experience is that you shouldn’t wait until the last minute to turn in assignment and you should have a daily schedule to be better at allocating time.

  15. Diana

I don’t have any questions about taking an online writing class. Last semester English online was not bad, the course was pretty relaxing, and all the work was straight forward. What helped me be manageable was writing down due dates on my calendar and having my phone remind me about the due dates. During last semester the professor allowed us to pick the topics we were interested in writing. That might have been a reason I was able to enjoy the class and not feel stressed out. Writing is not my best area there, are times I find it challenging to get my point across with a flow. Having others criticize your work is a helpful strategy in which allows one to grow as a writer.

Taking an online can feel a bit grueling at times specially around midterms and finals, but other than that I don’t have any concerns. I have created a schedule for myself and as long as I’m consistent enough I shouldn’t have any problems when it comes to handing in work and staying focused. The best thing anyone can do is being able to manage their time and staying organized. Trust me everything after that should feel really smooth. Whenever times get hard it is okay to take some time off and relax, stressing about is only going to make everything worse.

  17. Jeffrey Marin

I do not have any concerns about taking any online courses. I had no problems taking an online English class last semester. The work that I did wasn’t too hard, the Professor was reasonable when it came to due dates. With other online classes, prioritizing my time and organizing a schedule can help avoid any pile up on work.

  18. Michael Batista

With online learning I usually don’t have many concerns, transitioning to online classes was a easy transition for me. However, last semester I found that with online learning it can be a little more challenging for me to stay engaged and focused. When I feel myself losing focus I like to make sure that I at least have some sort of way of reviewing of what I missed, so I go back to recordings for the classes that offer it and review around the timestamp that I missed.

I don’t have much question about this online writing courses. But I have little concern about the website. I’m kind of confused where to write our assignment. All though I took English 1101 last semester, and we did used open lab I’m wondering if it’s going to be same thing as my last course. Some positive aspect of online class is that I get to manage my time more often also I have more control over my time. I like the idea of online class because I feel like it gives me more freedom. All though person to person class is more fun you get to meet new people.

I don’t have any concerns about taking an online writing course because I have taken one before. Some questions I do have are will we have to get creative when writing pieces? I know how in some writing classes, you write based on what you have read. So I was just wondering if in this course, will we have to really analyze or get personal? Somethings that worries me is not fitting the criteria. The criteria for an English class is a little more than a regular class. A few tips that I have with the online experience is to get a calendar or a planner. This keeps you on track. Also, use a device that is not your cellphone.
