Please join the FYW Program @ City Tech for a series of Roundtable Discussions related to developing a shared framework for thinking about, talking about, and teaching college writing at City Tech.

JOIN THE FYW PROGRAM TO DISCUSS WAYS TO BETTER COORDINATE AND SHARE RESOURCES FOR TEACHING WRITING ACROSS THE DEPARTMENT AND COLLEGE, AND TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
  • How can we better coordinate college writing instruction across schools, disciplines, departments, and programs?
  • How can we focus more on sharing our knowledge about college writing than on distributing information related to it?
  • How can we better share resources for teaching writing across the college?

Since the Writing Lab Hour is very much a “work in progress,” faculty are encouraged to attend and contribute to as many Roundtables as possible in order to ensure that their suggestions and curricular materials are integrated into the foundation and structure of this new course component.

Identifying and Assisting ESOL Students in ENG1101/ENG1121 at City Tech

Please join FYW and ESOL for a jointly sponsored event on Thursday, Feb. 27 from 12-1 to discuss issues related to Identifying and Assisting ESOL Students in ENG1101/ENG1121 at City Tech.  The event will feature presentations by Professors Lubie Alatriste and Johannah Rodgers, and will include ample time for discussion.  Please join us in Namm 503 for this event!

Innovative Uses of the Open Lab in FYW Courses

Please join us in the Faculty Commons (Namm 2nd Floor) on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 12-1 for a discussion of Innovative Uses of the Open Lab in FYW Courses at City Tech.  The event is being co-sponsored by the Computer Technology and Facilities Committee and will feature presentations by Professors Patrick Corbett, Thomas Wilk, and Jody Rosen.
