Enduring Issue – Mental Illness
The task was to design a 12-page typography primer on a chosen global issue, using black and white color only, in Adobe InDesign. The project highlights key typographic elements such as tracking, leading, alignment, and hierarchy.
My goal was to create a visually informative, elegant design that sets the mood through font choices and text arrangements. For example, the Chalkester font captures the feeling of depression, and the slanted Papyrus font conveys the complexity of schizophrenia, giving off a sense of strangeness and phobia.
I chose Mental Illness as my theme because it relates to our health and well-being. Just as physical health matters, mental health shapes how we think and behave. Mental health challenges can be obstacles, but they also offer opportunities for growth through learning and experience. Growing up, I realized the value of self-love and care. Encouraging yourself to seek help and communicate with others is key to connecting with yourself and the world around you.
