“A half moon, it has a dark half and a bright half, just like me.” – Yuno Gasai [Mirai Nikki]

As for my quote, I decided to go for a personal favorite quote from a anime/manga called Mirai Nikki. Yuno is a psychotic character who would do anything for her lover. She is able to ] look like any sweet girl bubbly/happy but easily flip to her insane/psychotic self all in the name of love. I really wanted to go with a light and dark theme for this quote using film noir as a base for my concepts. Overall I really think it suited the quote fitting to its overall message.

Film Noir.

A style or genre of cinematographic film marked by a mood of pessimism, fatalism, and menace. The term was originally applied (by a group of French critics) to American thriller or detective films made in the period 1944–54 and to the work of directors such as Orson Welles, Fritz Lang, and Billy Wilder.

It took me quite of bit of time to figure out this idea and find the right image for it. I went through 3 images changes before I choose this image as the final design. I feel this one suited more of the film noir concept color range wise with the black and white with a pop of a wine red color. I also had trouble finding a proper font so I went on a search for the font that suited the 1940s font style. I feel as though her character as a whole is really expressed through her facial expression with the silhouette I chose.

For this concept and design, I wanted to go for a more darker approach. When I saw the images for film noir movie posters they gave me a very detective/mysterious vibe. I wanted to combine that with using a font that gave off ransom note look but still keeping the colors from the previous designs. I at first had the quotes all in white but I felt making the middle a the wine color made it stick out a bit more as it’s centered in the middle. I didn’t use the font from the previous design since I felt it didn’t combine well with this one was not needed.

For this last design I wanted to go for a old fashioned polaroid signed by herself with a very simple design. I felt like going for a very simplistic straight to the point post card. I struggled trying to make the moon which came out more like a crescent than a half moon. Though, I still believed that overall it still gives the effect of the moon-based quote etc. I also wanted to give the impression that she herself as In Yuno Gasai signed it herself as a approval to her quote. I still used the font I used in the previous concepts but instead of using them all I kept one and used a font script.
