Hornung’s True Value Hardware – Harrisburg, PA (Alex G)

The hardware store I chose was Hornung’s True Value Hardware. This store is located in Harrisburg, PA on 2nd St. I actually have used this location before throughout my internship and now with my culmination project as well. I would compare this store to Harbor Freight. The tools are dirt cheap, but the quality is very low. This store I use mostly for fasteners and other small purchases. The staff is very friendly and helpful, asking what they can do for you as soon as you walk in. The staff knows a lot as well, but the biggest help is finding what you’re looking for.

The biggest downfall of this store is that everything seems very out of place. Three feet from the C-Clamps is dog food and next to that is gardening supplies. If you aren’t familiar with the layout finding anything alone is a challenge. This store sells mid sized power tools, but off brand and cheap. What is great about this store though is the location. It’s right on Harrisburg’s busiest street, and with no other hardware stores for miles, it has a monopoly.
