Problem

Solar panels provide clean energy that does not harm the environment. However, the materials and manufacturing process of solar panels are actually very harmful to the environment. Solar panels are hard to recycle. This is supported by the fact that silicon (the main material used to make solar panels) when recycled, produces silicon tetrachloride. This is a toxic fume that can not only destroy our lungs if we inhale it, but also destroy the surrounding wildlife and water it comes in contact with.
