In the essay ” How to Read Like a Writer ” by Mike Bunn he writes ” You are already an author”. What I think he means is that every day we are writing although we might not notice it. I text my friends to hang out, I write at work whenever its necessary, I write at school when taking notes in class. All those things make me an author even though I’m not writing an essay or a book. Every time we write we keep improving as authors. Writing ever day will also help me a lot in college and my future. I will be able to have less trouble writing essays or also have less trouble trying to explain myself to someone. On page 72 it states, ” Instead of reading for context or to better understand the ideas in writing, you are trying to understand how the piece of writing was put together by the author and what you can learn about writing by reading a particular text.” I want to learn more when I’m reading into something. I want to read a text and learn more about writing instead of just reading it just to read it. I want to know how other stories have been put together because I want to learn how to put my own writing together well. This will help me in college when I right my essays they will be put together well and not unorganized. It will also help me in the future when I have to write emails to my boss or anyone else. The gist of all this is that we are all authors even if we aren’t writing a book or essay. Every day we are writing and becoming better and better as each day passes.
