Where words fail music speaks It’s freedom

It seems that people feel compelled to give their opinion of new inventions and technology. However, many of those opinions are inaccurate or ill-informed. For example, the great philosopher Socrates believed that writing was evil, because it enables you to record information outside of your brain. I have been encouraged all my life to keep a journal to write things down so that I do not forget them. Likewise, many people believe that the Internet is bad because it is believed that the Internet causes us to lose connection with those around us. The truth is it all comes down to how and why you use it. The way I use the Interned is to listen to digital music. Three great things about listening to music is that it changes my mood, helps me pay attention, and helps me learn. I argue that digital music and it is ease of access online improves listeners emotional state. This improved emotional state can produce other improvement in attention and learning by keeping you motivated.

As teenagers we often feel like nobody understands us or hears what we have to say. We are being treated like a child but yet are expected to act like an adult. Therefore, we rely on art to be the voice of the voiceless. Art is anything that is done with love. Some art can be hooked on a wall and others we listen to. It can be the drawing of a five year old, a twenty year old in a dance competition, or a song you can relate to. I listen to every kind of music but I mainly prefer rap music because I feel like the artists understand me. I feel like we share something in common. It’s like the author know my pain, and what I am going to through without even knowing me personally.

Music is like a drug that produces a physiological affect of a changed  mood while listening to it .In two separate interviews I had, one with my best friend Samuel Harris ,who is 19 majoring in Theater art and law and my mother Marie Jean who is a 40 years old a certified nurse assistant, Samuel and Marie Jean said  that music changes their despite the fact that they have different tastes in music. Samuel mostly listens to R&B while Marie listens to gospel music. Sam listens to music to make time fly by while Marie listens to music to go to sleep faster. They both agree that music disconnects you from the world by putting you in a world of your own. I agree with them, because I also listen to music which is mostly rap. I listen to music when I am doing homework, chores, or to get from place to place. When I to go to the gym, I hate to do cardio but when I put my headphones on and listen to music, I suddenly get motivated and it fells like I did so much in so little time. What I am trying to say is if you don’t like doing something, put some music on and your mood will be positive and you will be motivated.

Skanland, Marie Strand reports that listening to music on MP3 player helps regulate your mood and emotion. Regulate means that to control the rate or speed so that it operates properly meaning if it helps regulate mood and emotions it will always maintain them in a positive state. By regulating people moods and emotion, music relieve them from stress which make them function better because as we know not everyone can perform under stress. Many athletes have said music has helps them calm down before a big game. They make listening to music part of their routine.

In addition to the previous article a newspaper raised the question ” Which came first, language or music?”. The article was basically talking about how different type of music brings out different type of emotions. It also says based on a experiment that was done in Japan and Europe more people were moved to tears than any other art, like novels , painting or Poetry. Music put you on a relaxed mood when a mother first bond with her child is when the baby is crying and she pick him up started singing to him and rock the baby comfortly no words need it.  she calmed the kid down with no word, only lyrics. That action should tell you the impact of music in our brain.

An argument take placed when two parties believed that they are right especially in a topic as controversial as this one. A newspaper repots that “Music a Menace” it talked about how most drivers were distracted while driving changing the station on the radio or putting the Cd in . Most drivers admitted that they taking their eyes off the road to plug in the aux cord. In an Interview of over 25000 people up to 71% admitted that they were distracted by their music player. I do not agree with this article like the other 19% because that does make music a menace. Drivers are easily distracted by a large crowd on the sidewalk, or a police car in front of a house. There are too many factors to blame it on music. I am saying that from my own experience because I am a driver myself and before I drive off I put my phone on shuffle mode. If I want to change the song for some reason , I wait until I am under a red light. What I am saying is do not blame being distracted on music because by pointing one finger towards music, you don’t realize three other finger are being pointed back to you. It means that you are your biggest distraction.

Bob Marley a famous Jamaican songwriter ,singer ,Guitarist and activist said in one of his song called “Trenchtown Rock”,“ one good thing about Music is when It hits you, you feel no pain”. This mean that music as an incredible impact on us. It is there for us during rough times and it helps us look toward better days ahead. Trenchtown is a poor town in Kingston, Jamaica where Marley grew up. That was hit by a hurricane and destroyed many homes. They settled by a dump site, Marley explain how music was the only escape from this unpleansant life. It is song like that that makes you appreciate the art of music more each day.

To conclude, Music is the best thing that happens to humans because we can never get enough of it and there’s no side effects. It avoid arkawards car rides, also letting us know we know alone and it can also be use as a milestone. For example, play the moments , pause the memories , stop the pain and rewind the happiness. It will help you focus on the positive things in life and not the negative one by rewinding the happiness and stopping the pain. People will always judge what they cannot understand and not in a positive matter. It was no different for music , They do no understand the affect music has on our brain and emotion. Therefore, it must be evil.

My career in sport medicine

Assignment #2

My career in sport medicine

My name is Marc Larose, I am eighteen years old, and I am a freshman at  New York City College of Technology (City Tech). My major is computer science (CST), I have always had an interest in computers. However, I also love sports particularly soccer, which made me develop an interest in Sport Medicine. Now, I am thinking of switching my major from CST to chemical Technology (LAS) with a goal of becoming a sport doctor. Sport Medicine is the best career for me, because I love to help people. It will be a great opportunity for me to work with athletes and I enjoy working with people. In the upcoming paragraphs, I will provide background information about my major, I will discuss the reason behind me choosing this major and I will explain how I plan on being the best in what I do.

Unfortunately, there’s no sport medicine major at City Tech which means that I need to major  in either Chemical Technology at City tech, or transfer to Brooklyn College or Hunter and enroll in a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program  in Sports Medicine. It is better if I wait until I get my associate degree in the LAS program before I transfer to another school. If I transfer before I get my degree there is a high chance I will have to take some classes over because each school has different curriculum for each major, meaning some credit will not be validated in the other school. Changing major is not as easy as most people think neither is transferring to another school. It’s basically applying to college all over again but only fewer steps .The process is also faster.

When I transfer to Brooklyn college after earning my associate degree in City Tech , It will take me another two year to earn my Bachelor degree.  After four long years, I will take a test called Medical college admissions test (MCAT) to get into medical school. MCAT is to college students what SAT is to college students. When I pass the MCAT exam ,I can either attend an allopathic medical school to become a medical Doctor (M.D) degree or attend an osteopathic medical school to become a doctor of Osteopathic medicine (D.O). The main difference between these programs is that osteopathic programs place extra emphasis on the musculoskeletal system and preventative medicine. Then I will have to take an exam for allopathic physicians also known as the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Exam (COMLEX). Then I will have to complete a residency in a primary care and lastly a fellowship by getting either exam for allopathic physicians is known as the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), while the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Exam (COMLEX). It will take me an amount of eight to ten years to become a sport doctor.

Most people think sport doctor is only responsible for telling  how long the will not be able to play for but acording to my research, Sports medicine focuses on helping people improve their athletic performance, recover from injury and prevent future injuries. It is a fast-growing health care field, because health workers who specialize in sports medicine can also help many “regular” people as well as athletes. You don’t have to be a professional athlete to seek help from a sports medicine professional. Sports medicine professionals treat people who participate in sports just for fun or want to get better results from their exercise program, patients who suffered injuries and want to regain full function, and people who have disabilities and want to increase their mobility and capabilities. It is a fast growing career that has grown by 18% percent since 2014.An article name “History of sport medicine in east European countries” says sport medicine has been there as early as the 19th century but it is now getting more recognition because of the tremendous growth in the sport world. It also says sport medicine is known more in European countries.

As I study sport medicine, I will be learning how to help people with injuries but mainly athletes. I have many options after graduating with this degree I could be:  a physical therapist, a Nurse or an athletic trainer, or a medical doctor specializing in osteopathy. Whatever I choose from what I listed will depends on my career goal, my educational goal and the environment I want to work in. The kind of education I am getting at City Tech and the other school I will be part of. I want to transform it into a long term career.

I have always wanted to be a professional soccer player but unfortunately, I need a day job. I have always wanted to be involved in the sport world in general but preferably soccer. Since I cannot make it as a soccer player I want to be a sport doctor supporting soccer player. When a player gets injured I would provide them the help they need to keep pursuing their dream. When a player gets injured and they think their career is over, I will be one of the main people that will help them get better with their injury to get back on the field and do what they do. It will be an honor for me to work with the next Lebron james or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Zora Neale Hurston is an American folklorist, anthropologist, and author who write in “Their eyes were watching God” said “There are years that ask questions and years that answer” (Hurston 21). When I was applying for college it was a constant battle choosing between Computer science or sport medicine.  While it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up, I now know what I want to be a sport doctor .Furthermore I intend to be the best at what I do because I always aim for the best. Certain people do not believe I have what it takes to be a sport doctor because there’s so much steps to become one. Their uncertainty towards me is what will make me keep going when I feel like giving up.

In conclusion, Sport medicine is the right career for me because I chose it based on my passion for sport not because I had to choose a career. I spent my whole life playing sports. Any sport is about a team which is a group of people working together to achieve a main goal. Sport medicine is similar, it is a group of doctors working together to achieve a goal, make our patience better. Just like a team we each will have out part to play to attend our final goal. Therefore, I will be driven to be the best at it and I will also enjoy it because most of the time I will be working with people I look up to. One thing I learn growing up it is if you do not pursue your dream someone will hire you to build theirs

Soccer is life By Marc Larose

My name is Marc Larose, and I am a freshman in  New york City of Technology known as City Tech  majoring in Computer Science. I am interested in quite a lot of things, but the three things that I am most interested in is playing Soccer, playing video games, and finding enough time for sleep. Growing up in Haiti soccer was one of the most important things in my life. Playing soccer in Haiti meant you were normal, if you didn’t play soccer or you didn’t know how to play it was like you didn’t know how to walk or talk because playing soccer is a  big part of our culture. Everyone in my family plays soccer including my dad , my uncle ,and even  my grandfather . I have played other sports besides soccer like football and basketball. However, I have never felt the same way playing soccer as when I play the other sports. Therefore, I believe that soccer defines who I am. In this essay, I will explain why soccer is so important to me by discussing what its relationship to my dad,its relationship to me , its experience as a video game, and it’s entering my dreams.

One of the reasons why I have so much love for soccer is because of my dad. He told me stories about playing soccer when he was a kid. He and his friends would get up at 6:00 am every weekend to play soccer it was their routine. My dad was my motivation to get better at soccer because he always pushed me beyond my limits. He was also my coach growing up, him and I, we were already close and  soccer brought us even closer. we used to play against each other as we playing we will state each other’s mistake. That was our way to get better, we were each other’s critics. we spend  time doing other thing but none of them were as good as playing soccer. We also watching professional matches together and the best thing is that we support the same team, so you can only imagine us watching soccer. .  When there’s important match, friends and family come to our house to watch the games because of the perfect ambiance there. Once our favorite team makes it to the final of champions league my dad automatically plan a party because they have never lost a champions league final but they have lost others.

I believe that Soccer is the best sport known to mankind because it gives me a unique feeling when I play. I feel like it’s a gift every time I set foot on the field because I feel joy in my heart when I play and kick the soccer ball. This feeling started when I was young. In fact, I started playing soccer as soon as I started walking. Also, I watch professional soccer matches, which ignites my joy about the game too. I used to be on a team called Brooklyn Italians. During that year, I played for them it was the best time of my life because We made so many memories we traveled to other states to play games. I considered my teammates as my second family, Even after two years after playing for them I still talk to every last one of them . Now, I only play with my friends, but the feeling is nearly the same as if it was the first time I kicked a soccer ball. I still get excited when it’s time for me to play. I believe soccer has made me a team player it has helped to get along with people because it taught me that you can’t do everything by yourself and together we are stronger.

Everything I do is soccer related. When the weather is nasty and I can’t play soccer outside I simply go on my video game and play Fifa which is a soccer video games.  I like to play with my favorite team which is Real Madrid  located in spain also known as Los blancos and My favorite player which is Cristiano Ronaldo .I don’t really like to play against the computer, I prefer playing against my friends or stranger online because I want to interact while I’m playing. When I’m playing against my friend and I’m winning I like to tell them how they suck and they will never beat me but I cannot do that against the computer. My friends and I, like to play Fifa tournament that’s when we play against each other in the video game and whoever has the most wins is the best. Playing Fifa has almost the same feeling as playing soccer in real life. I have other games on my xbox like 2k and GTA but I always find myself playing Fifa. Everytime my little brother come in my room he always see me playing fifa and one day he said’ why do you have other games in your xbox when all you do is play Fifa. Don’t you get bored of playing only one game” I looked at him and said  I brought them just in case I got bored of playing Fifa but then  how do you get bored of doing something you loved. Fifa taught me how to interact with others. I didn’t really like to interact with others until I started playing Fifa online.

In addition to video games, sleeping is also related to soccer because I cannot remember how many time, I have dreamed about becoming a soccer player. The love I have for soccer is unbelievable because even when I am unconscious, I somehow still manage to think about it. One of the best dream, I have had  was when I used to play for the Brooklyn Italians. We had made it to the finals and our opponent was Red Bull .The night before the game I dreamed that the game was 1-1  in the last minute of the fourth half and I had scored the winning goal and I was nominated  man of the match. Another dream I had was as a Real  Madrid player , which is my favorite team and I helped them win their 10th champions league trophy by providing the assist to the winning goal. That Trophy was so important because we been chasing it for 12 long years and  I was the one to help win it.

In conclusion, soccer a worldwide sport mostly known as football. I have play with every race and there was no problem between us. There’s no color when we play soccer but how you move and what you can do with the ball. I guess soccer bring us closer and we see past our differences. I also had bad memories in soccer because I have lost important matches. I have seen the team that  I support lost important matches too. I remember, back when I was still playing for the Brooklyn Italians  we reached the Colombus cup finals and we were winning  and in the last two minutes we concede two terrible goals. That day I cry until I couldn’t cry anymore, only soccer had made me this emotional . One of the most important thing I learn from soccer that night was you can’t win them all. Even if I do not make it to the soccer world as a soccer player. I want to make it to the soccer world somehow and recently I have been thinking of changing my major from Computer Science to Sports Medicine .
