My Responsibilities

My role is digital design associate within the communications and marketing department and my supervisor is the Communications and marketing director.

I came to select this internship site through a professor’s recommendation. First, I filled out a form online where I uploaded my resume and a cover letter. After that I sent an email to the chairman, letting him know about my interest in doing an internship with the organization. After a couple of days he contacted me to have a group call. During this group call, he explained what the organization does and what he expected from the interns. He asked if we wanted to get the internship after explaining all that so we could get started with the onboarding process. I accepted, so he created my account to get into teams where I’d be working on since the position is remote. A couple of days later I sent out some forms he asked and a professional headshot picture. All this onboarding process took about a week and then I got task to get started with my internship.

My responsibilities are creating social media content, specifically images. I get a prompt with a title and a description to create a 1080x1080px image. I usually do research on the topic and then decide what’s the best way to show it either through illustration, photographs, text, or a combination of them. Even tho I have that creative freedom, I still have to follow the organization’s brand guidelines such as colors and typography. We have access to the organization’s canva account but I usually work on Adobe Photoshop and/or illustrator.
