Research Projects

  •  DEN 1114 (Histology & Embryology)– The research power point I did for this class was on “Disorders of the Tongue” such as “Ankyloglossia, Black Hairy Tongue and Geographic Tongue”. The power point included overview, etiology, treatment of the disorder, as well as its relevance to our dental hygiene profession.
  • DEN 1200 (Seminar)-  Along with Sandy Manjareez and Ding Ling Zheng, I did a table clinic research project on the relationship between “Periodontal disease and Alzheimer’s’ Disease”. Our research project was presented at the Wellness Festival in NYCCT, we were able to inform on our findings and provide brochures with the complimentary floss and mouth rinse.

  • DEN 2311 (Oral Pathology)- I did a research paper on Drug- Induced Gingival Hyperplasia. The paper included an overview of the condition, etiology, clinical presentation, demographic; tests like biopsy, radiographs, and histology, differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. What was great about doing this paper is its relevance to our dental profession. That is, that as dental hygienist we can expect to see at some point a patient with Drug- Induced Gingival Hyperplasia and be able to know how to manage and treat them effectively.
  • DEN 2315 (Pharmacology)-  The research power point that was created for this project was on “Prescription and OTC anti-allergy medications”. This project was done along with classmates Josue Mondesir and Jason Shao.
