Demystifying the Threat of Technological Advancement

In this paper, the audience will be other scholars because the topic is one that has been mentioned before in other papers, but to an extent, it is likely to be controversial. Therefore, the paper will promote further research in the area. The main point of research is finding out whether technology presents a threat to the lives of individuals in future, considering that technology will progress beyond its current condition. At the moment, examples of negative arguments against technology are that it has replaced human jobs and it has made people lazy by reducing their need to go out and interact with the environment. However, counteractive arguments are that technology has created new jobs different from the ones it seemed to replace.

Also, with technological advancement, there are machines that help individuals remain fit without needing to go out. Therefore, the issue that the research will address is on whether the arguments being put across about the negative implications of technology are true or whether there is counterargument that proves technology is good, and people do not need to worry about technological advancements that take place in future.  The genre of the research will be on technological advancement as it presents a favorable study considering the fears that arise with the idea of technological advancement. The resources of the research will be from authentic sources that will be searched online, including journals and authentic websites. From the research, I will lean on whether there are provisions being made to help counter the perceived negative implications of technology.

Multimodal Component

It is essential to have a multimodal component in writing classes because the component teaches how to integrate different modes of communication in creating content. The multimodal component enables a person to understand different components of a text. For example, a multimodal text contains a linguistic mode that may have different styles and fonts; a visual mode such as static or moving pictures; a spatial mode which is the distribution of the content on a page; a gestural mode expressed by gestures and movements; and an aural mode that relates to audio. It also teaches a variety of modes through which an author can complement to pass information. The multimodal component teaches flexibility in delivering content where an author can use different modes to pass or enhance the intended information. A multimodal component can greatly enhance presentations, which is essential in academia or workplaces. Therefore, a multimodal component is a crucial component for the writing class.

Multimodality means using various modes of communication to present information. It means exploring different modes such as audio, alphabetical text, video, static pictures, gestures, and color to pass certain information. Multimodality, therefore, adds taste to a literary work or a presentation. It engages an audience’s mind differently; hence, a person can obtain additional information from a picture, sound, graphics, text color, video, and motion pictures. In addition, multimodality is essential in presenting information on digital platforms whereby various texts are used, pictures, and themes. Therefore, multimodality involves actively captivating the audience, emphasizing, complementing, and breaking the monotony.

I intend to include various modes of communication, including pictures, various font sizes, specific spacing, and paper margin, different font colors, audio, and, if possible, a video. I intend to emphasize my work with the various modes to ensure my audience is extensively engaged and richly informed. I will also engage creativity to make the presentation appealing and captivating to read. Since different people may be interested in different modes of communication, such as alphabetical text, pictures, movies, and voices, I will use them to reach those audiences. Also, my multimodal component will keep my audience focused hence enhancing their understanding. Using various modes of communication indicates that an audience will apprehend the information implicitly and faster; hence the material will appear easy rather than abstract. Also, the various modes of communication will entertain my audiences hence raising the appeal of my presentation.

Week 10 Reflection

One of the most important things I learned in Unit Two research is that even though social media is touted beneficial to users, it poses serious harm in terms of manipulated and targeted advertisements. Such advertisements, especially food advertisements, are undertaken by food companies through influencers with a huge following with the primary aim of hooking social media users to such products. Thus, you will find celebrities endorsing foods on social media. Still, when users are duped into consuming such foods, they end up with eating disorders and other conditions detrimental to their health. However, out of the five groups mentioned in Unit Three assessment sheet, I think that New York City Council members should know about this food manipulation on social media. Such is because this group of people can influence change policy and help stem this problem.

One of the most affected and vulnerable groups of people who are likely to be harmfully affected by the actions of food companies through manipulative advertisements are children. In most cases, children can rarely defend themselves, and these companies are making young people, including teenagers, develop eating disorders and threatening diseases out of greed. The New York City Council members can effect change even though the issue also involves the federal government. They can vouch for policy change that at least protects the people from the actions of the advertisers and food companies on social media. The Council members can also hold such advertisers and food companies responsible in most instances. The best way to approach the New York Council members on this matter is through a meeting and presentation of the research findings, as this would make the work formal and based on empirical evidence. And finally, I think I did well on the outline of my research, the structure, and the use of supportive evidence to defend my findings. However, I will have to improve my clarity and incorporate better research evidence.
