Hello, my name is Elizabeth Colomara and I am excited to say that I will be graduating from New York City College of Technology this May! I am looking forward to finally begin working and build a great career as a RDH. I plan to further my education and work on obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration after graduation.
I chose to pursue a dental hygiene degree because I have always been passionate about helping others. I wanted to be part of a profession that focuses on health, education, and prevention. Dental hygiene allows me to combine my passion for education with my strengths in communication, detail-oriented work, and my motivation for helping people. I’ve always believed that a healthy smile can make a huge difference in someone’s confidence and overall well-being. Dental hygiene allows me to work closely with my patients, educate them, and see real time improvements in their oral health. I believe dental hygiene is a meaningful, respected profession that gives me the opportunity to make a difference every day.
During my clinical training I obtained hands on experience in patient care. Such as; EO/IO assessments, Periodontal charting, Dental charting, Patient education, Radiographic imaging and interpretation, Fluoride treatments, Sealants, Local anesthesia administration, Prophylaxis, Periodontal therapy, Guided Biofilm Therapy, as well as DentiMax software. The best part of my clinical experience was gaining strong patient communication skills and meeting a lot of great people everyday.
