Head Start Outreach

During this Public Health Head Start Outreach event, we broke into teams and worked with classes of 3-5 year old children. We educated the students with a YouTube video on the importance of dental check-ups and cleanings and reviewed oral home care instructions. The children also demonstrated how they brush their teeth at home with Dental Animal Pals and pediatric toothbrushes.

During this Public Health Event, we reviewed proper brushing techniques and healthy dietary habits for hearing impaired 4th grade students. We had the opportunity to work one-on-one with the students and wrapped up our presentation with some great dental goodies, coloring pages and certificates for their excellent participation!

For this event, I wrote up the lesson plan and printed out the coloring pages for the students.  I wanted to make sure we incorporated an ice breaker, hands-on activities and tell-show-do methods of brushing and flossing with our Colgate typodonts. I believe the event was a huge success and that the students, and their teachers, were truly interested and appreciative.
