Towards the end of November the COMD had a seminar in the amphitheater. The company that came to speak to us about getting out in our field after college and ways of “Selling Our self” as a brand, were from the Creative Circle. Now the Creative circle is a group of people that help find, hire, or get work for talent. How it works is if you are a big or small company that needs to get a freelancer for a project you can go to them with your needs and they will find you a free lancer that best suits your requirements. Now this works both ways, if you are a free lancer looking to get involved, get the experience you can sign up to be a part of the CREATIVE CIRCLE and they will find work for you suitable to your strengths as an designer. This was by far the most useful thing City Tech had to offer to design students besides Meet the Pros. Who knew there was a company that did that. It made life after graduation seem less scary and give you options for when you do decide to get involved in the creative world; become the real deal.

Learning about this company was a great way of directing us as new and eager designers to a good asset. Knowledge of how to present ourselves. Insight into what we need to apply to internships or companies. Most of the things they touched on was already known to a majority, but gave us a chance to ask questions or concerns about moving forward after graduation. It was still a good refresher and networking event. The speakers event touched on the do’s and don’t’s of resumes, best practices at interviews, and  portfolios. I am better informed and feel like I have a general path I might pursue post City Tech. CHEERS!
