Dwayne T. Philibert was born January 5, 1983, in Jamaica W.I. Dwayne mother moved to Canada to start a better life. Dwayne would visit his father a lot, when he lived in Jamaica. Dwayne would, learn about his background and visiting landmarks of his family tree. Dwayne Philibert remembers going to basic
school in Jamaica. In 1989, at the age of 6 years old, Dwayne Philibert was taken to America. First time coming to America was a big culture shack for Dwayne. People were stopping at traffic
lights, the cold, and the different languages used. These were all new to Dwayne. When he was sent to school it was even harder for him to adapt. A class of Spanish kids and a Jamaican boy was not a good start for Dwayne. He quickly received the name problem child.
Dwayne finally started to make friends and graduate
from Jr. High school. One of Dwayne’s friend ask him one day if he would like to go to a after school program. Dwayne did not like to waste his time doing more school active; he would rather run the streets with his other friend. After he was ask every week to go to the program he finally took the offer and went. At this program Dwayne was introduce to the Marines. Everything they did in this program was about being a leader and how to stand out. It was not only a mentoring program; it was a motivation to do better to not only himself, but also the lives around him. Being in this program Dwayne built a passion for the Marine Corps. When Dwayne was ready to graduate from High school he receive
a scholarship to play football at New Paltz University, majoring in Art. Dwayne went to the Marines instead. January 26,2003, Dwayne was shipped out to the U.S. Marine Corps. During boot camp, Dwayne was very successful and as a result was made guide of his platoon. Throughout his career, Dwayne became highly decorated. Dwayne has had the opportunity to live in many places, such as Japan, Germany, three tours Iraq (where
he became a veteran), and North Carolina, just to name a few. In addition, he speaks languages such as Japanese, and a little Swahili and Arabic.
Dwayne succeeded in his role and found he wanting to reach for a new goal. As a Child growing up was always aspired to own his own business. Now as an adult, he has grown up and found himself working on different things to build a successful life for himself, while leading by example and providing encouragement to others. Dwayne currently continues to mentor kids, fellow Marines and donate his time to charity work. Dwayne is very determined to reach his goal set forth in front of him and he will not stop until he achieves his mission.
In addition, Dwayne is now trying to build two companies. An online Magazine and Touch of class photograph and design. Dwayne is very business minded and always trying to find away to better not only himself, but also those around him.
