Delsy Veliz Eporfolio Edit

At the end of my first college semester I am convinced that I want to become a pastry chef. Although I have not had lab classes I think this chef route will bring out the best of me. Considering recently I have done a lot of baking for family events and I enjoy it. Somewhere along the lines become an entrepreneur as well and have my own business of foam flower arrangements. I am looking forward to this next semester now that I have some basic knowledge of how the industry works and what is needed to succeed. I think by the end I will be able to bring my own little piece of grain to the table to make myself proud or whoever I am working for.
The thought of traveling & going from hotel to hotel is simply fascinating. My name is Delsy but I go by Dulce. I’m currently an undergrad student at New York City College of Technology. Since my visit Italy and Mexico, I knew that I had to major in something that would allow me to travel the world. I have two passions. one is baking, especially Mexican pastries. We Mexicans life for conchas. My other passion is creating foam flower arrangements. That’s how i came to the conclusion that the best major for me would be hospitality management.
I’m not sure which route to take, culinary or hotel management but either way I’m very motivated. I like the challenges that these courses have to offer. I hope to gain all the skills and information that are needed to be successful in the industry.
I’ve been told that i’d make a great pastry chef due to my creativity. I’m a patient person, who is responsible and well organized. I’m considering opening my own cafe/bakery . Being Mexican American is definitely an advantage when it comes to baking, endless options. Doing something I love while bringing delicacies to the table of others. In doing this I hope to inspire others, while enjoying the process.
