AIGA

We live in a technical world. Coming from a technical college, I became a technical person. Designs are technical as well, and are shown in a way using technology. I was happy to find some of these designs in the AIGA design Archives.

This design is called SKIN-Pavilion of Knowledge. I chose this because this shows the different ways a design can be produced. The designer’s, Giuseppe Greco and Vera Sacchetti, intentions on this design was to create a texture for a wall with lighting and acoustic purposes. The “skin” which is the wall was lit with natural light, and the lighting between the walls were done with LED white lighting. There approach for this piece, was to show the way to make things clearer to the museum’s intentions of sharing information.

This design is a LED structure with neon lighting. It’s called LATE Neons. Each letter in this structure was built as a stand alone and mounted in a Perspex cube. The letters serve as an event identity through events as stage signage. This was used as the LATE event backdrop for bands and other entertainment that performed at this event.

This final piece is called Painting with Pixels. A mural in the pixel style. The design was a 20 x 8 foot pixel mural and leave 5,760 pixels as black squares with color coded letters (C,M,Y,K). This was done so the people who attend, can paint the mural themselves. This design to bring to peoples attention about what is building block of the industry, the pixel. This focuses on modern video games, on how the graphics have evolved to the point of realism, and these pixels that make that happen is the “golden age of gaming.”
