About Me

Hey there, my name is Dennis Joseph, a graphic designer and all around art enthusiast. I was born in Trinidad & Tobago, but have lived in the U.S. (more specifically, Brooklyn N.Y.) the majority of my life. I’m currently going to City Tech as a part time student studying Communication Design. Other than Digital Media Foundations being part of my required curriculum, I was interested in learning more about the foundations of design and creating images that “speak” to people.

I have been interested in art my entire life. My earliest inspirations came from cartoons such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. However, as I grew older, it began to expand to other areas such as Comic Books, Manga, Street Artists, and even Clothing brands. From there, I began researching many of the artists behind some these various fields. Some of my favorite artists include Lamour Supreme, Steve McNiven, Tite Kubo, Sophia Chang, Banksy, Wizard $kull, among many others. They all contribute in their own unique way. The same applies to clothing. I enjoy the art found on tees for clothing brands such as Stussy, Supreme & Mishka. the DIY aesthetic found in silk screening tees is something I take a lot of interest in.

When it comes to my own abilities, I am proficient with a few applications. I’m familiar with Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint) and to a much lesser extent, programs such as Apple Movie for video editing. I also have a talent for traditional art such as sketching and some painting. I hope by the end of my stay with City Tech, that I would have gained the necessary experience and knowledge necessary to fine tune my own abilities to better serve the art world within any of its various sub fields which include fashion, design, and illustration.
