Research Career Paths

The career I chose to do research on was a nurse. I used the ONET OnLine to get more information on how to become a RN nurse. To start you need a minimum of an Associate’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree. Registered nurses must pass the NCLEX exam in order to be licensed. Based on this website I also learned what are some working activities a RN nurse does. For example, they maintain medical facility records, monitor patient conditions during treatments, and record patient’s medical histories. I also learned what type of skills a RN nurse should have such as active listening, social perceptiveness, speaking, and service orientation. I watched this video https://www.careeronestop.org/videos/careeronestop-videos.aspx?videocode=29114100 and it showed me what to expect as a registered nurse.

Assess Yourself

The assessment activity I did was Education Planner and the results I got    were surprising to me. My top five results in the career cluster list were Human Services, Education and Training, Government and Public Administration, Architecture and Construction, and Health Services.

I never thought Architecture and Construction was going to be part of my list because I never pictured myself being interested in that career. Even though it looks like an interesting field I don’t think I would like to pursue it. I was surprised that Human Services and Health Services were included in my results. These two careers are different but I find both fields interesting. Another thing I learned about myself throughout this activity was that Education and Training was also part of my results. Teaching has crossed my mind before but then I changed my mind and decided that nursing was something that I’m interested. Overall, this assignment taught me new things about myself and all the careers seem interesting to learn about.
