    • 1 hour minimum
    • Concept is SPACE and COMPOSITION
      • MUST have Foreground, Middle ground and Deep Space. Establish this composition.
  • Color Research– Self Study session
    • RESEARCH ON Space through Landscape to create COMPOSITION
      • Look through Art History Links and find Inspiration images; write one short analysis
        • Analyze Color, Value, Saturation,
        • Composition, rhythm movement

Define and Develop

Develop Landscape Sequence

  • LANDSCAPE SEQUENCE – all pieces roughly 5″x5″ or 6″x6″
  • 1) (complete) Landscape colored pencil drawing– from scene, full descriptive space and hue
  • 2)Paint on Bristol: Graphic transition to hard edge shape painting, landscape still fully recognizable- draw out first
    • Use large and small graphic spapes that represent landscape space
    • Use variety of Hue, Saturation and Values to show space, light and forms in a believable way.
  • 3)Abstract Simplification, 3-5 hues:
    • Strongest Figure/ground shape interaction across picture plane.
    • Abstract, Tension, Clear

Deliver:

  • Trim all individual color landscape segments to image size plus small border
  • Label and clean up edges
  • Photograph and Post in Milanote and OpenLab
  • For Open Lab post, include Project 4 part 1 Color Grids
  • Final Discussion and Critique
