This project involved listening to music and translating its rhythm, mood, and patterns into visual forms through drawing. I focused on creating and refining patterns that echoed the repetitive and varied elements of the music. The idea was to let the structure and flow of the song (The Reason – Hoobastank) influence the design choices, such as line quality, shape, and movement. By paying attention to how the music’s tempo and dynamics shifted, I aimed to express these changes visually through the patterns, exploring how repetition and variation could be translated into a visual language.

What I learned from this project is how music can be an effective inspiration for visual design, helping me think beyond traditional concepts and embrace more abstract forms. I enjoyed how the rhythm of the music pushed me to explore repetition and variation in my drawings, though I feel I could have planned better in terms of material choices and overall composition. I found that I could refine my patterns further with more careful attention to balance and spacing. Moving forward, I will focus on improving my material use, ensuring that my designs have a more cohesive flow. I also want to explore different techniques of refinement to make the patterns feel more intentional and polished in future projects.
