We invite you to tell a story about how you are learning to be a City Tech student. Research has shown that first-semester students often worry about their transition to college, yet eventually they become comfortable and find a community of people with whom they are close and feel they belong. Share your own story of learning to find your place at City Tech. *

My story is that I came to City Tech because it interested me and also because my dad goes here as well. At the start, I couldn’t even find the registrar’s office to register myself to class, but now i know my way to certain spots in the school.
Hi Ignacio,
I like how honest and real your story is. Coming to City Tech because you were genuinely interested — and because your dad is here too — already shows that you had a strong connection before you even started.
What you described about not knowing where anything was in the beginning is something almost every new student goes through. It’s completely normal to feel lost at first, especially in a big campus. The important part is that you kept exploring, and now you’re finding your way around and getting more comfortable with the different places in the school.
That process — going from unsure to confident — is exactly what being a first-semester student is all about. You’re already building familiarity and independence, and that’s a big step in finding your place at City Tech.
If you ever need help with navigating campus or finding any resources, don’t hesitate to reach out. You’re doing great, and each week you’re settling in more and more.

My story is that I came to City Tech because it was the only school that accepted me because of my grades
Hi Preston,
It takes a lot of maturity to say something like that openly. Even if City Tech wasn’t your first choice, what matters most is that you’re here now and you’re taking steps to build your future.
A lot of students feel unsure in the beginning or worry about how they ended up in college, but what truly defines you is what you do after you get here. The fact that you’re showing up, participating, and reflecting already shows growth.
City Tech is full of opportunities, resources, and communities that can help you succeed, regardless of how you started. Many students who felt the same way ended up discovering their strengths, finding friends, and building confidence as they progressed.
You belong here just as much as anyone else, and you have every chance to shape your own story moving forward. If you ever need support — whether it’s academic help, finding groups to join, or navigating campus I’m always here to help.
Great job on your reflection, and keep going.
