Procreate: 2nd Creative App Review

The second app I selected for review is an iOS application called Procreate. Procreate is a raster digital painting app developed and published by Savage Interactive for Apple’s iPad Pro. The app contains a variety of unique features and creative tools which includes over 200 handcrafted brushes, complete color control, power-moves, quick shapes, streamlines, perspective guides, color drops, 4K time-lapse videos and animation assistance.

Procreate’s Brush Studio is an entire feature dedicated to how the user’s brush should react, appear, and behave. The user can customize default brushes, create their own brush, or download Photoshop brushes straight into Procreate with unlimited possibilities for textures and effects. The second feature, color control, provides digital artists with an intuitive interface that simplifies selecting colors for complementary, triad, analogous palettes, and so forth. Power-Moves, the third feature, refers to the user’s multi-touch gestures which reduces visual guides on the interface, in exchange for maximum performance. Furthermore, features such as quick shapes, perspective guides and color drops are drawing assistance tools designed to speed up the user’s creative workflow by minimizing repetitive actions.

Every 3 – 4 months, Savage Interactive updates Procreate with new features to enhance the creative experience for digital artists using the iPad Pro. It is an application that I strongly recommend for new and existing users to consider for illustration. In addition to that, Procreate has a one-time purchase price at $9.99, compared to Clip Paint Studio at $8.99 / per month and Adobe Fresco at $9.99 / per month without a creative cloud subscription.
