Design & Development Intern

On Tuesday, February 4th and Thursday, February 6th, I was provided with the information and tools needed to perform and completed all daily assignments which were provided by Coty. Coty Novak is the development and events coordinator for Pen America in New York City. Through the CUNY Cultural Corps Internship Program, I became Pen America’s new intern for the design & development department. I had previously worked at The Actors Fund as a digital marketing & design intern for the fall semester and then transferred to Pen America for the upcoming spring semester.

The internship placement and networking connections provided by the Cultural Corps made the internship process much more manageable. CUNY Students, such as myself, who attended the recruitment event had the chance to work with their most favorite organization and had an even higher chance if marked as “most favorable” on the Cultural Corps’ placement system. The Actors Fund and Pen America were my primary choices for the Fall 2019 & Spring 2020 Semester.

After the recruitment event, another in-person interview was required, which can occur if the individual you interviewed with is not assigned to be your supervisor, which is based on your experience, interest, degree, and the type of position available at the selected organization. The main questions asked during my interview consist of the following: “Why do you want to work for our company? Do you have a portfolio? What was the most challenging problem you have ever faced in your career? Do you know [Insert Name of Software]?”
