Reflection # 6

The last class session on March 06, 2019, we talked about modern trends, famous trendsetters, and complementary designers. One of my most significant activities outside of college is doing personal research on the modern trends of communication design. The independent study I actively do as a graphic designer is more crucial now than ever before. As technology and society continues to advance, so does the creative industry and what we can do.

The creative trends of 2018 are either obsolete or has been significantly changed for the new year. As a creative professional, it is a personal responsibility of mine to stay up-to-date on the latest designers, themes and modern trends,  so that I can create more design work for agencies or clients that holds relevancy and meaning through a visual message, product, or experience. As a graphic designer, I am expected to know what the most successful, relevant, and utilized design practices and principles are to ensure creative success.

I have been actively studying  about creative trends over the course of several years through magazines, books, websites, and public events. There is always a new theme, topic, or trend to explore in the creative industry. My willingness and passion to learn gives me the chance to pursuit different forms of knowledge, allowing myself to not only grow as a student and graphic designer but also as a person in life.

Learning from modern designers and recent trends of 2019 can strongly reinforce my design skill set as a young creative professional in areas of  design strategy, direction, and production, providing me with even greater insight to fully understand what is marketable and enticing for an agency or a client and their specific audience. Those who are compelled or immersed in successful design from a consumer viewpoint typically see more value in a message, brand, or product, in which leads to even greater success in my creative work due to their interaction and experiences.
