For CUNY’s next project, we are looking to work on another similar robotic project where an undersea robot by Robotics In Service of the Environment (RSE) captures lionfish. Lionfish have taken over the waters of the Eastern United States Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and Bermuda. They are threatening the reefs, eating fish that eat algae which grow on corals and are being smothered and dying. It is difficult for divers who hunt Lionfish to capture them without harming the reefs and other undersea species. This robot will help capture the lionfish without harming them and going in deeper waters where divers can not go. This underwater robot will help capture Lionfish who are threatening sea life.
