CUNY Youth Ambassador Position

The CUNY Youth Ambassador (CYA) is a unique semester-long leadership development program for CUNY students. The CYA is a carefully selected CUNY undergraduate student who represents CUNY’s potential in being a key player on the global sustainable development scene. The CYA has the exclusive opportunity to attend the Youth Assembly (a program of Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc.) and has the responsibility to engage fellow students on global issues in sustainable development and quality education.

The Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization formally associated with UN DPI/NGO and holds Consultative Status with UNESCO and Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC.

The program is currently available to City Tech students and undergraduate CUNY interns via the Center for Advanced Study in Education (CASE) at the CUNY Graduate Center. The program plans to expand to other CUNY campuses in 2019-2020.

The 2017-2018 CUNY Youth Ambassador was Farjana Shati of City Tech. Farjana attended the 21st session of The Youth Assembly: Innovation + Collaboration for a Sustainable World on February 14-16, 2018 at the UN Headquarters in New York City.

The 2018-2019 current CUNY Youth Ambassador is Tareen Haque of Macaulay Honors College at City College. Tareen attended the 23rd session of The Youth Assembly: Empowering Youth for Global Development on February 15-17, 2019 at New York University (NYU) in New York City.
